What is khash?

Khash is an ancient Armenian hot dish. The name comes from the word “boil”. It is eaten
early in the morning, together with friends and relatives.
Eating khash is considered a ritual for both the organizers and the participants.Khash is not
just a meal, it is a good occasion to get together with close friends and family.
The process of making khash is quite laborious and long, but the method of preparation has
remained unchanged over the centuries.
It is served with dry lavash, garlic, sour cream, radish and vodka. It is also interesting that salt is
not added during the preparation of khashi, because the khashi turns black, it is added while
eating.
The best season to eat khash is considered to be winter, and eating khash in the cold days
of the year at Gata Tavern is often a great occasion
