Wine

Wine is one of the oldest and most mysterious drinks. It is a fact that Armenians were the first to practice winemaking in the world, there are even found clay vessels for crushing, fermentation and storage of grapes, grape seeds, glasses, which prove that they started making wine in Armenia more than 6000 years ago. There is a museum of Armenian wine history in Armenia, where there are unique exhibits proving the Armenian origin of wine. These ancient ornaments document the history of wine development in Armenia. Today, winemaking continues to be leading and remarkable. Armenian wines are popular not only in Armenia, but around the world.

Armenian cuisine is rich in various dishes compatible with wine. At that time, only kings could drink vodka, because it was considered the drink of kings due to its strong influence. Later, that tradition continued, and vodka was already considered a royal drink. It was considered an expensive pleasure not meant for mere mortals. And already in the middle ages, young people were forbidden to drink vodka, because vodka was considered poison for young people, and milk for adults. Our grandfathers had the habit of drinking a glass of vodka every morning. According to them, if you drink a glass in the morning, you will have a successful day.

Nowadays, vodka is a popular drink, it is an integral part of the Armenian table, especially on holidays. There are a number of dishes in Armenian cuisine that have traditions associated with them and an interesting way of eating them. For example, vodka is indispensable at the khash table.
